Quill’s charity challenge

Quill Pinpoint’s charity committee, Project QP, has completed its biggest challenge... no less than Yorkshire’s Three Peaks in one day.
At 25 miles long, a collective 1,600 metres of ascent and descent, and large areas which necessitated rock climbing, the walk presented as much of a psychological challenge as a physical feat of endurance.
A quarter of Quill’s staff participated in the 16th May event so it was a real team effort.
With some serious soul searching, its hikers finished the course in under 11 hours, some within a staggeringly short 9-hour time frame, much faster than the original 12-hour deadline.
Of all Project QP’s fundraisers to date, the Three Peaks has raised a record total for its chosen beneficiary, the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Currently standing at over £3,500, donations have reached 140% of target.
Wilton Centre resident, Sarah Lear, Quill’s Legal Technical Manager, said: “I was excited to take on the challenge but I also knew it was going to be hard.
“To help prepare and improve my fitness I increased my gym attendance and upped the distance and intensity of walking round the hills near my home in Guisborough.
“The challenge itself was gruelling, but I made it round in 10 hours 44 minutes, exhausted but very happy and extremely proud to have supported such a good cause.”
