Electric Vehicle Charging Posts
Two standard charging posts, each with two outlets, have now been commissioned and are ready for use. One post is located in the visitor car park and one in the east side resident car park. The standard posts, which are free to use for the next 12 months or so, take up to eight hours to supply an 80% vehicle charge capacity.
The meeting rooms located on L1 and M1 corridors have been moved to A3 and C2 corridors. Conference Control have full details of the replacement rooms.
Around the Centre - Refurbishment Update
Refurbishment of J2 and J3 blocks is complete and CPI moved in before the Christmas break. Work is now progressing on the areas CPI vacated on B2, C2 and D2 corridors and a new tenant will move into part of B2 corridor in March. Work (ceiling, lights and carpet) will begin shortly to refurbish the restaurant area of catering.
Energy Conservation Update
Work to install a variable flow ventilation system to “D” Laboratory Block is complete and commissioning will begin shortly. All five laboratory blocks are now fitted with variable flow ventilation resulting in very significant electricity and steam savings. Replacement of the heating building management system in the main building is in progress. Work is ongoing to improve the efficiency of lighting systems and studies are being carried out to identify further energy saving opportunities.
Taylor Shaw, the Wilton Centre catering provider, are reviewing the hospitality menu and a new menu will be available to residents shortly. The restaurant has featured a series of six menu theme days with the Mexican menu providing the final feast. There are plans to run further such days throughout the year.
A dual interactive white board has been installed in room M209. Its smart technology enables the user to access the internet or integrate multimedia content and therefore explore a website with the audience, give a science presentation or go on a virtual field trip – all without ever leaving the room.
Meeting Room Usage Higher
The occupancy level of the meeting rooms increased by over 35% last year, compared to 2010, with the greater usage being in those rooms that have been refurbished and fitted with up to date presentation equipment.
